![]() ![]() This album is filled to the brim with massive sounding riffs that’ll crush your skull, or that you can crush skulls to. Gale was the vocalist of the Dallas based Power Trip, and there’s no way I could make a demon ass-kicking playlist without including these guys. Tragedy struck the metal community this year with the loss of Riley Gale. All-in-all this album is probably just heavy enough to make this list but it definitely holds a similar vibe to ripping and tearing! Dopethrone - Hochelaga ![]() Jonathon, sharing a name with the song, suffers from mitochondrial disease and his sight was slowly getting worse and worse but he never gave up hope or let it diminish his spirits. ![]() Connect the cuts has a sick breakdown even though it's one of the shorter songs on the album, and Jonathon is an amazing song about a disabled man that the band has met and that they were truly inspired by. My personal favorite tracks are Connect the Cuts and Jonathon. The album revisits its heavier themes for the last 3 songs as well so it more than makes up for it all. Being that I’m a huge lover of heavy metal this seemed like the most logical time to slip some of my favorite bands some well-deserved recognition. So I figured I’d take this opportunity to write a music article myself. Now I know what you may be thinking, “Doesn’t Annie usually write the Songs To Grind To articles?” Well yes usually she does, however, she may or may not be currently trapped inside a derelict spacecraft whilst being hunted by a ravenous alien at the moment. I have compiled a list of some absolute crushing albums that make for great soundtracks to accompany your demon-slaying warpath through the dystopian wastelands of earth, sulfuric levels of Hell, and gold-laden realms of Heaven. Being that it’s the month of all hallows eve and in honor of Doom Eternals first DLC, The Ancient Gods, releasing on October 20th I figured I’d do something special. The time of year where the air begins to chill, ghouls and corpses decorate the neighbor’s lawns, and disembodied screams echo out from tv screens across the country. ![]()
